OUR STORY

Project Smiles was founded in 2023 by two university Oral Health students going into about to complete their final year. Our primary objective is to disseminate oral health education to underprivileged groups, including the youth, DV victims, new mothers, diabetic patients, and the homeless. We coordinate and conduct volunteer sessions to accomplish this mission and remain devoted to making a constructive impact on our community. We firmly believe that high-quality oral health education should be accessible to everyone and are committed to achieving this noble goal.

Ashley

Ashley, originally from Brisbane, commenced her career in the dental field as an assistant in 2016. Currently advancing through her final year of Oral Health Therapy, Ashley radiates an ardent zeal for promoting the importance of oral health. Her journey from assisting in Brisbane to her present pursuit embodies her unwavering commitment to advocating for comprehensive dental care.

Ashley is also her university representative for Dental hygiene Australia association (DHAA) and acts as treasurer for the Oral health student society (OHSS).

De-Anne

De-Anne, a North Queensland local began her dental journey in 2016 through work experience, dental assisting and volunteering. Currently navigating the final year of her Bachelor of Oral Health alongside Ashley, De-Anne’s passion lies in oral health promotion and education. Her commitment to advocating for comprehensive dental care reflects her dedication to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. De-anne still finds time to represent her university for the Australian dental student association (ADSA) and is the president of the Oral health student society (OHSS).
